Grilled Barbecue Chicken: Great Flavors with Fruit

Grilled Barbecue Chicken: Great Flavors with Fruit

Grilled Barbecue Chicken: Great Flavors with Fruit

Chicken, an easy protein to prepare, it flavors well, most people love it, and best of all, it grills up great!

We explored non traditional barbecue sauces to help reduce sodium in our diet.

One of our small heathy lifestyle changes has been reducing sodium in our diet. We have been able to keep our sodium to less than 500mg daily to support my mom and her salt sensitivity. Once you eliminate most salt, you really never miss it!
We now create our sauces for the grill by starting with some fruit, peaches, apricots, cherries, raspberries, strawberries, fruits that will cook down a little and sweeten as they heat.

We normally add pineapple to the mix.
    Picture
    Some vinegar too.

Now, when you try this, you can add molasses, garlic, onion, and spices like tarragon, dill, oregano, basil, pepper whatever your preference.
Just bring your ingredients to a simmer in a small pot. Let it reduce down a bit and take your sauce out to the grill.
Then, what Grill Guy ( my husband) has started doing is: grill the chicken until it's just about done, then baste the grilling chicken with the sauce using a basting brush.

While on our RealW8 journey, we've searched for ways to make small healthy choices and realize that these small changes combined to create a long lasting lifestyle change for better health and wellness.
Creating a tasty barbecue sauce for the grill is one small healthy choice.

Tummy growling? Need something quick? Why not reach for an egg? It's "simple, easy, fresh".
Picture
Simple, Easy, Fresh! An Egg!
Maybe you're on the run, want something hot. Maybe you need to plan a snack, lunch even, to take to work. Maybe you just don't feel like spending much time out of a busy streak to think about eating.
This is the perfect moment to make a small, simple lifestyle change with this simple choice.
Reach for an egg.
Picture
Eggs cook up easily. You can fry, boil, bake, poach 'em. You can make them up singly or make them for a crowd.
Picture
In 5 minutes you can have food for 5!
You can add all kind of extras to eggs to give them so much variety.
My team of RealW8 coaches have experimented and look what they've come up with to fit their busy schedules and lifestyles!

Dr. Tom created a Maui Onion and Cheese Omelet
Picture
Louise made eggs with chorizo, potatoes, avocado, tomato, cheese and hot sauce.

Charmayne made Eggs with shrimp and tomato!

Charmayne tried Tuna and Egg
Picture
Annie paired steak and eggs.

I tried, my favorite, bacon and eggs.
Remember, even at it's simplest, eggs alone, hard or soft boiled or scrambled up simple are a great snack or meal. A much better choice than a packaged or boxed snack!

Pizza Part 1 Dough, Part 2 Sauce, Part 3 Put It All Together The RealW8 Cook Alicia DR Hankins

Yes! With RealW8, You CAN eat Pizza! and still lose weight! RealW8, Real Food.

Pizza is a pretty popular food. If you are getting it frozen or even from a fast food outlet, you are probably getting pizza covered preservatives, chemicals and, most likely, an outrageous amount of salt (sodium).
Why not make it at home, fresh from your oven?
You'll know exactly what's in it,
you can make adjustments to the dough, sauce, and toppings to match your needs,
each person having the pizza can choose their own toppings and
It's a Fun Activity to do with your Circle of Support right there at home!
Give it a try! Let me know how YOUR pizza turns out by leaving me a comment right here, on Facebook, or email.
Be Creative!
Aloha~
